The Ecole normale supérieure de Cachan (ENS Cachan), a prestigious public institution of higher education and research founded in 1912, is one of the major French Grandes Écoles, which are considered the pinnacle of French higher education. Every year, the ENS Cachan welcomes between 15 and 30 foreign students at M2 level or PhD within the framework of this program.
The ENS Cachan is involved with five other French institutes and university in a new international master program (second year) "Materials and Engineering Sciences in Paris".
Virginie Bonnaillie-Noël, winner of the Irène Joliot Curie « young woman scientist » award 2009. March 5, 2009 This award highlights and encourages a young woman who has distinguished herself through exemplary scientific activity within the field of French research. She will be awarded her prize in April 2009 by Valérie Pecresse, the Minister for Higher Education and Research and Louis Gallois, the Executive President for EADS.
